Hiện nay, tiếng Anh đã trở thành một phần quen thuộc với tất cả các bạn học sinh, sinh viên hay kể cả người đã đi làm và đặc biệt hơn là học tiếng Anh IELTS đã dần trở thành một mục tiêu quan trọng mà chúng ta đề ra. 

Mình là Thùy Linh – SV năm 2 trường Đại học Quốc Tế-ĐHQG TP. HCM, bắt đầu từ năm nhất đại học khi trúng tuyển ngành ngôn ngữ Anh của trường Đại học Quốc Tế, mình đã đề ra mục tiêu học IELTS cho bản thân. Với những kinh nghiệm trong quá trình ôn luyện và học IELTS của mình mong rằng bài viết 7 Lý do khó khăn khi học tiếng Anh IELTS và cách khắc phục dưới đây sẽ như một bài review nhỏ về quá trình ôn thi IELTS của mình để gửi tới các bạn tham khảo.

Có lẽ là bạn đang thắc mắc là tại sao không ít hơn hoặc nhiều hơn con số 7. Nhưng thật ra con số này là đến từ bản thân mình, mình nhận thấy rằng có rất nhiều bạn gặp phải những vấn đề này trong quá trình ôn tập cũng như lúc mới luyện thi IELTS gặp phải nên muốn chia sẻ đến các bạn.

Mình hiểu rằng với những bạn vẫn đang tìm hiểu về học IELTS ban đầu sẽ cảm thấy rất bỡ ngỡ về IELTS. Vì vậy trước tiên chúng ta sẽ cùng tìm hiểu IELTS là gì nhé.

IELTS viết tắt cho International English Language Testing System, tạm dịch là Hệ thống Kiểm tra Anh ngữ Quốc tế với 4 kỹ năng Nghe, Nói, Đọc và Viết. IELTS là cuộc thi kiểm tra trình độ thông thạo Anh ngữ quan trọng và phổ biến nhất thế giới cho mục đích học tập, làm việc và định cư với hơn hai triệu thí sinh dự thi.

Luyện thi tiếng Anh không phải là việc làm đơn giản, ai cũng biết như vậy. Vì không phải là một dân chuyên Anh chính hiệu nên ngay lúc mới bắt đầu ôn luyện IELTS mình cũng đã gặp phải một số khó khăn và mình nghĩ hầu hết các bạn newer cũng giống như mình,  dưới đây là 7 khó khăn phổ biến khi ôn tập và luyện thi tiếng Anh mà mình đã tìm hiểu và đúc kết từ bản thân có được.

1. Chưa tìm được phương pháp học phù hợp

Đúng vậy, việc có một phương pháp học phù hợp cho bản thân là rất cần thiết trong việc học tập nói chung cũng như luyện thi IELTS nói riêng.

Với tốc độ truyền tải của Internet như hiện nay, việc tìm kiếm được tài liệu ôn và luyện thi IELTS không phải là điều khó khăn gì. Chúng ta thường có xu hướng muốn đạt kết quả nhanh nhưng thật ra” dục tốc thì bất đạt”. Việc nhiều bạn quá vội vàng cứ lao vào học một cách vô thức mà không chịu tìm hiểu về mình cần gì và muốn gì khi học IELTS cũng như việc chuẩn bị kỹ lưỡng, lựa chọn phương pháp học phù hợp với bản thân. Khiến chúng ta mất nhiều thời gian, công sức nhưng không mang về kết quả gì.

Vì thế rút kinh nghiệm các bạn đi trước, mọi người cần nhớ để đạt được kết quả cao trong kỳ luyện thi tiếng Anh IELTS, thì việc đầu tiên bạn cần làm là phải xác định phương pháp học nào là phù hợp với năng lực, thời gian, sở thích của bản thân. Ví dụ như bạn có thể chọn ôn luyện tiếng Anh tại nhà, học với gia sư hoặc đăng ký khóa luyện thi tiếng Anh tại các Trung tâm anh ngữ.

Nếu bạn cảm thấy mình phù hợp với phương pháp học nào thì nên lựa chọn và lập ra một kế hoạch ôn luyện cụ thể ngay sau đó.

Hãy đừng vội lao vào học IELTS ngay mà bạn nên tìm hiểu bạn học IELTS cho mục đích gì học tập hay làm việc. Hãy test thử trình độ tính Anh mình đang ở mức nào trước khi bước vào ôn luyện IELTS.

2. Không có lòng kiên trì luyện thi tiếng Anh

Đây là khó khăn mà đa số các bạn mới bắt đầu luyện thi tiếng Anh đều gặp phải. Mình tìm hiểu thấy rằng việc luyện thi không thể vội vàng mà phải có lòng kiên trì, sự cố gắng. Bạn hãy nghĩ đến mục đích ôn luyện của mình để tạo ra động lực cho bản thân. 

Cũng không nên gò bó, ép buộc bản thân phải nghe hay đọc các bài tiếng Anh hàng giờ liền. Vì tiếng Anh là ngôn ngữ, cũng giống như tiếng Việt vậy. Vì vậy đừng tạo áp lực hay bất kì sự căng thẳng, mệt mỏi nào cho bản thân vì điều đó không thể mang lại kết quả cao, chỉ khiến bạn mất nhiều thời gian, công sức mà thôi.

Hãy ôn luyện khi tinh thần cảm thấy thoải mái, tự suy nghĩ, tìm tòi, tạo ra những phương pháp học tự nhiên, vừa học vừa chơi, học cùng bạn bè… Đó là cách giúp bạn tiếp thu kiến thức nhanh nhất, mà không hề cảm thấy nhàm chán, mệt mỏi.

3. Hạn chế vốn từ vựng

Việc khó khăn khi học tiếng Anh IELTS thứ 3 là học quá quan trọng vào ngữ pháp tiếng Anh và chúng ta đã quen với điều đó khi học ở các cấp học dưới, nên việc nuôi dưỡng vốn từ vựng dường như ít được sự quan tâm của chúng ta hơn. Chúng ta sẽ gặp khó khăn trong việc ôn luyện vì vốn từ vựng quá ít hoặc bản thân chỉ biết các từ vựng chuyên ngành nhưng lại hạn chế về từ vựng thông dụng trong cuộc sống. Chính điều đó, khiến bản thân chúng ta dễ rơi vào tình trạng chán nản, thất vọng về bản thân và từ bỏ mục đích ban đầu.

Qua quá trình học tiếng Anh lâu dài mình nhận ra rằng từ vựng là nền tảng là chìa khóa trong luyện thi tiếng Anh IELTS. Thế nên, hãy bắt đầu học những từ vựng gần gũi với cuộc sống, thường sử dụng trong giao tiếp. Bạn phải kết hợp học từ mới có lựa chọn, thường xuyên ôn bài và quan trọng phải thực hành, sử dụng những từ, cụm từ đã học được vào trong cuộc hội thoại, giao tiếp hàng ngày của mình hoặc tự nói một mình để tăng khả năng phản xạ.

Một ngày bạn chỉ cần học 5 – 10 từ vựng, sau một thời gian ngắn vốn từ vựng của bạn sẽ cải thiện rõ rệt, giúp quá trình luyện thi tiếng Anh trở nên dễ dàng, thoải mái.

4. Không tự tin khi luyện nói tiếng Anh

Trong lộ trình luyện thi tiếng Anh của bản thân, đây là khó khăn khi học tiếng anh nhất mà mình gặp phải, vì không được nghe nói tiếng Anh từ sớm nên mình đã sốc và ban đầu rất ngại nói tiếng Anh. Và mình có rất nhiều bạn cũng giống mình. Sau một thời gian tự tìm hiểu và khắc phục thì mình nhận ra rằng nguyên nhân chính là do chúng ta thiếu sự thiếu tự tin, có thể chúng ta biết cần phải nói gì nhưng không biết cách hệ thống đâm ra không can đảm để nói trước đám đông, lâu dần sẽ hình thành thói quen, khiến bản thân cảm thấy chán nản, dễ bỏ cuộc giữa chừng.

Để khắc phục khó khăn lớn này, ngay từ khi bước vào kỳ ôn luyện bạn nên lập kế hoạch học phần Speaking thật cụ thể. Trước tiên hãy học cách phát âm tiếng Anh thật thành thạo học nguyên âm, phụ âm, nguyên âm đôi,… so sánh các cặp âm với nhau sau đó hãy cố gắng nói thật nhiều, thường xuyên trò chuyện cùng bạn bè, thầy cô, người bản xứ bằng tiếng Anh với những câu thoại đơn giản, cố gắng dành thời gian luyện tập mỗi ngày.

Chỉ sau một thời gian bạn sẽ phá bỏ rào cản do chính mình tạo ra, cảm thấy bản thân mạnh dạn hơn, thoải mái, tích cực hơn trong suy nghĩ, không sợ sai, không xấu hổ khi nói tiếng Anh.

5. Không có thời gian ôn luyện

Nếu bạn không thể dành thời gian luyện thi tiếng Anh thì rất khó để đạt được kết quả tốt và đây là khó khăn khi học tiếng anh của những người đi làm,…

6. Khó khăn trong quá trình luyện thi IELTS 4 kỹ năng

IELTS là kỳ thi tập trung vào 4 kỹ năng là nghe nói đọc viết, nó khác xa so với việc chỉ tập trung vào ngữ pháp và từ vựng cơ bản mà chúng ta được học ở các lớp dưới. Vì vậy mà khi mới ôn tập và luyện thi IELTS chúng ta thường sẽ gặp những khó khăn nhất định trong việc tạo thói quen luyện tập cả 4 kỹ năng này. 

Vì vậy cách giải quyết nhanh nhất là hãy đưa tiếng Anh vào thực tế, tức là ví dụ bạn thích nghe nhạc vậy hãy tập nghe nhạc bằng tiếng Anh, có thể ban đầu bạn không hiểu nhiều. Nhưng hãy cứ nghe và chép ra những câu tâm đắc trong bài hát đó phân tích giải nghĩa từ vựng, ngữ pháp quan trọng. Hãy để tiếng Anh là một phần trong cuộc sống của bạn chứ không phải chỉ để thi lấy tấm bằng IELTS.

7. Bơi trong vô vàn những tài liệu IELTS

Trong quá trình học tập và ôn luyện IELTS, mình nhận ra một điều rằng, tài liệu ôn thi IELTS các bạn không thiếu (thậm chí rất nhiều). Tuy nhiên, việc tìm cho mình một bộ tài liệu ôn thi IELTS cũng như phương pháp học tập tốt mới chính là điều quan trọng nhất dành của kì thi IELTS. Việc có quá nhiều nguồn tài liệu để tham khảo cũng khiến chúng ta gặp không ít khó khăn trong quá trình ôn luyện. Vì vậy lời khuyên của mình là nên tham khảo giáo viên những người có chuyên môn tiếng Anh để có thể giúp bạn chọn ra tài liệu phù hợp nhất với bản thân với trình độ hiện tại của mình.

Qua đây ta có thể thấy, để có được kết quả luyện thi tiếng Anh tốt thì điều quan trọng nằm ở sự cố gắng, kiên trì, lòng quyết tâm của mỗi người. Cùng với đó là sự kết hợp phương pháp ôn luyện phù hợp thì chắc chắn bạn sẽ hoàn thành kỳ thi xuất sắc.

Mình luôn tâm niệm trong quá trình ôn luyện IELTS rằng “IELTS is a test of your English skills, and English is a difficult language to learn!” để luôn đặt bản thân dưới một áp lực cụ thể, đó là cách của mình để giữ cho bản thân đi đúng hướng và không dễ nản trong quá trình luyện tập. Mỗi người sẽ có cách riêng nên dưới đây chỉ là những chia sẻ từ bản thân mình đúc kết để giúp các bạn tham khảo.

1. Lên kế hoạch ôn tập hiệu quả

Trước khi bắt tay vào học IELTS, việc lên kế hoạch ôn tập đóng một vai trò quan trọng hơn cả. Lý do đơn giản là bởi việc lập ra một kế hoạch học tập cụ thể sẽ giúp bạn định hướng rõ ràng và đồng thời sẽ thúc đẩy, tạo động lực giúp bạn thực hiện tốt hơn. Có thể nói, việc học một ngôn ngữ mới là điều không hề dễ dàng, bạn có thể cảm thấy chán nản và nhụt chí bất cứ lúc nào. Song, một kế hoạch học tập hiệu quả sẽ luôn hướng bạn đến con đường thành công nhanh hơn, dễ dàng hơn đấy!

3. Hãy tìm cho mình một “partner” để luyện nói

Việc có một người bạn để cùng nhau luyện nói hàng ngày là vô cùng quan trọng, đặc biệt là đối với những sĩ tử đang chuẩn bị cho kỳ thi IELTS. Bằng cách này, bạn sẽ không còn cảm thấy lúng túng khi giao tiếp hay nói chuyện với người bản xứ nữa. Nếu bạn có một “partner” để luyện nói hàng ngày, bạn sẽ cơ hội ôn luyện Tiếng Anh mỗi ngày và điều này đem lại một lợi ích vô cùng to lớn.

Hãy ví việc học một ngôn ngữ với một cuộc chạy đua. Bạn chạy càng nhiều, bạn càng trở nên điêu luyện hơn. Và tất nhiên là sẽ có những yếu tố quan trọng khác nữa mà bạn không thể bỏ qua để có thể đạt được kết quả cuối cùng. 4. Tạo thói quen ghi chép với “language notebook”

Language Notebook nói chính xác là một cuốn sổ tay mà bạn có thể ghi chép lại ngôn ngữ mình đang học. Bạn sẽ phải có nhiều cuốn tương ứng với từng loại như: Sổ từ vựng, sổ ngữ pháp, sổ ghi chép cấu trúc bài viết,…Mình nhận ra rằng việc sở hữu cuốn sổ tay ghi chép có trí nhớ lâu hơn so với không ghi chép hay những người sử dụng thiết bị điện tử để ghi lại.

Dù trong bất cứ trường hợp nào, bạn cũng nên sở hữu một cuốn sổ để ghi chép lại những thứ cần thiết để có thể nhìn lại hay ôn lại những lúc cần. Hơn nữa, việc tự tay ghi chép lại cũng là một cách cực kì hiệu quả để khắc ghi chúng vào bộ não của chúng ta.

5. Duy trì động lực và sự cố gắng

Cuối cùng nhưng không kém phần quan trọng, một trong những kinh nghiệm học IELTS hiệu quả là luôn duy trì động lực và sự cố gắng. Không ít lần mình cảm thấy khó khăn, thậm chí là chán nản để đạt được band điểm mục tiêu đã đặt ra. Và có một điều chắc chắn rằng thái độ của họ ảnh hưởng rất nhiều đến khả năng. Chính vì vậy, việc duy trì sự cố gắng và tính kiên trì là hoàn toàn quan trọng trong suốt quá trình luyện thi IELTS. Đừng dễ dàng bị hạ gục và làm nhụt chí bởi những trở ngại. Miễn là bạn luôn cố gắng và không dễ dàng từ bỏ, thành công sẽ đến với bạn!
